The ransomware group known as World Leaks has allegedly claimed responsibility for a series of cyberattacks, adding Motor Controls Inc, Springs Christian Academy, Sika Footwear, and SNEG Propreté to its data leak site. The group claims to have infiltrated the networks of these organizations based in the United States, Canada, Denmark, and France, threatening to release sensitive information stolen during the breaches. This incident underscores the indiscriminate and global nature of ransomware attacks, impacting a diverse range of sectors including manufacturing, education, and specialized industrial services.
The list of victims posted by the threat actors includes several established organizations. As proof of the intrusion, the group has allegedly begun leaking data exfiltrated from the victims. The targeted entities are:
🇺🇸 Motor Controls Inc.: A US-based corporation established in 1980, specializing in designing and manufacturing custom control panel solutions for OEMs globally, with a reported revenue of $133 million.
🇨🇦 Springs Christian Academy: A private Christian educational institution located in Winnipeg, Canada.
🇩🇰 Sika Footwear: A Danish company with a history dating back to 1870, known for developing and producing specialized footwear for various professional fields.
🇫🇷 SNEG Propreté: A major French industrial cleaning company with nearly 900 employees, providing specialized services to a wide array of business sectors.
The full extent of the data breach for each company is not yet clear. The alleged leak of personal identification documents is a serious development that could expose employees and associated individuals to identity theft and fraud.
